This piece originated from the works of René Magritte, Salvador Dali, and Van Gogh. It's symbolic towards sexual abuse that various females experience in their lives. Females don't tend to speak up as they fear such facts will smear their reputation, that's why the hand is covering her mouth. Growing up, I have heard of many women that have been abused in such manner and keeping quiet. I want to bring sexual abuse in the attention of the audience so action towards such incidents can be taken.

Critical Investigation:
I wanted my illustration to reveal the severity of abuse that specific genders go through and the main gender presented in my piece was a female. The son of a man was manipulated to portray my theme. The reason I used that work of art by René Magritte was, because of the usage of colors, the posture of the man, and the fruit covering his face. There were alternations of hues and I also wanted to make my piece vibrant through the use of colors. The texture in the painting was quite smooth, which made René Magritte's work very neat and organized. There was emphasis, because he used made the formal outfit of the man darker, compared to the background in the piece. I also want to make the female the center of attention hence I can follow that aspect presented in Dali's work as well. Van Gogh was also an inspiration of mine, because of his usage of curves. Such an element can strengthen the importance of the theme that I am trying to portray. The reason being is, they can present some sort of a dilemma in the atmosphere in which the lady is standing in and it can be embedded with a lot of precise details. Salvador Dali was also someone I admire, hence I manipulated his art as well, so come to the illustration that I made. He was all about nature and nature has both positive and negative elements. Since my theme deals with the derision that women are surrounded in due to abuse, I displayed nature in a rather eerie manner.
